Why
“I love that my employer participates in Massage for the Cure. When thinking what I could do to make a difference in the life of a cancer patient I discovered that I could donate my hair.” Ms. Tucker said. “My hair grows really fast, and I could not imagine having to lose all my hair and not being able grow it back. I know my donation will make a difference in someone’s life.”

She has never donated hair before and admits to being “a little nervous. I feel for all the cancer patients that have to go through that, but especially the little girls, because I know that has to be really hard for them.”

Clinic owner Dr. Rick Klics says, “Two years ago I lost my oldest sister to a very aggressive and fast-moving breast cancer, so this is not just a great and worthy cause, it is something that has touched my life and the lives of my family very directly as well. I am so proud of our employees and their generous response to Massage for the Cure.”

Details
During Massage for the Cure, the Massage Envy nationwide event on Tuesday September 14, some 620 Massage Envy centers will offer specially priced one-hour therapeutic massage sessions for $49. In the DFW region, $15 from each massage will be donated to the Dallas/Fort Worth affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. However, the staff at the Massage Envy Rowlett clinic has volunteered to donate all of their salaries that day, meaning that at this location, 100 percent of the money raised will be donated to the cause. Funds raised go to support breast cancer education, screening and treatment initiatives throughout D-FW. This year, Massage Envy’s goal is to raise $500,000 for the cause. To date, Massage Envy has raised more than $1.4 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
