Massage Envy’s annual Massage for the Cure has special significance for Massage Envy’s Craig Ranch clinic.
“It’s really close to our heart -– two of our team members are fighting cancer, including one with breast cancer,” said Brendan McBratney, owner of the Craig Ranch clinic in McKinney. “As we prepare to raise funds during Massage for the Cure next month, we’re also supporting our two team members and rooting for their full, speedy recovery.”
Massage for the Cure is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14. In the DFW area, $15 from each massage will be donated to the Dallas/Fort Worth affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to support breast cancer education, screening and treatment initiatives.
The Craig Ranch clinic is an especially generous supporter of Massage for the Cure. Last year during the program, McBratney and his staff donated all of their salaries, and will donate all salaries again this year.
“Massage Envy nationally and our 27 clinics in the DFW area are long-time avid supporters of Susan G. Komen for the Cure,” Mr. McBratney says. “Every year, we see how enthusiastic and committed our employees and the community are to making Massage for the Cure a huge success.”
Clinic administrator Michelle Butler says the Craig Ranch location is ramping up for the September fund-raiser. Booths at the clinic will include vendors from the Susan G. Komen local affiliate; Lady of America in McKinney, Aflac, Mary Kay, Wells Fargo, Life Time Fitness, Durkins Pizza, Mattress Firm, and CK Sports. There will also be book signings at the clinic.
Lady of America in McKinney has pledged a $30 contribution to Massage for the Cure for each new Lady of America sign-up on site September 14. In addition, more than 20 people have signed up to donate blood to the American Red Cross, which will be at the clinic noon to 4 p.m.
Visitors to the clinic September 14 will receive gift bags with t-shirts, coupons, bracelets, self-exam shower cards and candy. Ms. Butler and her husband are donating homemade barbecue, drinks and desserts to feed the clinic’s team members. Other donations have come from Durkins Pizza, movie theaters, salons and gyms.
During Massage for the Cure nationwide, some 620 Massage Envy clinics will offer specially priced one-hour therapeutic massage sessions for $49. All proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
This year, Massage Envy’s goal is to raise $500,000 nationally. To date, Massage Envy has raised more than $1.4 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
